Toronto Police said an assault was reported to them on April 13 after a man approached a woman on a bus in the Progress-Milner Aves. area north of Hwy. 401 in Scarborough and allegedly made derogatory and anti-Muslim comments toward her.

The victim was then assaulted and suffered minor injuries.

The man, who was not known to the victim, exited the bus.

Incident captured on video

The incident was captured on video at the time and shared by the National Council of Canadian Muslims. It purportedly showed people on a Durham Region Transit bus that was en route to Ajax on April 13 at about 3:30 p.m.

Someone yells “what the f— you looking at me for?” before a man holding a cellphone enters the frame and stomps near the legs or feet of the person recording the video, reportedly a Muslim woman who was wearing a hijab.

“What the f— is wrong with you?” a woman, seemingly the person recording the video, says. “You don’t want to hit girls because we’re Muslim? F— you, go to hell.

“You need to learn that if you can’t respect people, you sit quietly. If you can’t sit quietly, then get off the bus.”
