Teams around the NFL often make decisions that other organizations don't. One of those teams is the Cleveland Browns, who certainly find themselves in as much quarterback controversy as we've ever seen.

With everything that Deshaun Watson has been through, and Shedeur Sanders being one of the more polarizing figures in the NFL according to fans, though that's a bit unfair because nothing the young man has done warrants some of the takes we've seen about him, adding another quarterback who has questions about his character probably isn't the best idea.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, that's part of the reason why it'd be surprising to see them go after Brendan Sorsby, who's expected to enter the supplemental draft after being caught gambling in college.

“The Browns are also conducting a heated two-way quarterback battle between Watson and Shedeur Sanders, and might not want to fan those flames. It’s controversial enough, with Watson, a villain in the eyes of some fans, trying to resurrect his career and Sanders, enormously popular, trying to prove he’s a starting quarterback in the NFL,” Cabot said. “Adding Sorsby, 22, to the room before training camp would certainly be a distraction and could possibly rattle the young team to its core.”

Everything Cabot says here makes perfect sense.

The Browns, perhaps more than any other team in the NFL, need to avoid having any more controversy in their quarterback room. I don't hate the idea of going after Sorsby as a player, but I can understand why they want to avoid him right now.
