Leon Goretzka will focus on European clubs rather than MLS for now
· Yahoo Sports
When reports surfaced that MLS side Chicago Fire was pursuing Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, it immediately raised questions about what comes next for the German international. At 31 years old, Goretzka certainly has the résumé to make a lucrative move to Major League Soccer, but recent reports indicate that he is still prioritizing opportunities in Europe before considering a jump across the Atlantic.

Per transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Goretzka is going to put his focus on European clubs — at least for now:
🚨 Despite approaches from MLS, Leon Goretzka gives priority to European clubs for his next move.
Available as free agent and ready for a new chapter.
That decision makes a great deal of sense. While Goretzka’s time at Bayern Munich appears to be coming to an end, he remains a proven player at the highest level. He has won multiple Bundesliga titles, lifted the Champions League trophy, and remains a member of Germany’s World Cup squad. There is little reason to believe he cannot still contribute to a club competing in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Interest from clubs across Europe has reportedly remained strong, with teams in England and Italy frequently linked to the midfielder over the past year.
Chicago Fire may still have a chance if European options fail to materialize, but Goretzka appears determined to test himself at the highest level for a few more years. For a player who has spent nearly a decade competing for trophies at Bayern Munich, that competitive ambition is hardly surprising.
