On Sunday night in San Antonio, the Knicks hoisted the Larry O'Brien Trophy, beating the Spurs in five games to become the new champs of the association. At the helm of the Knicks title run was former Golden State Warriors assistant coach, Mike Brown.
Brown played a key role on Steve Kerr's coaching staff during the Warriors' championships in 2017, 2018 and 2022. Along with winning a title as an assistant with the Warriors, Brown was also on the coaching staff when the Spurs won the title in 2003. However, Sunday's 94-90 win over the Spurs gave Brown his first championship as an NBA head coach.

Brown spent six seasons as an assistant on Kerr's coaching staff before leaving the Warriors to become the head coach of the Sacramento Kings.
Brown has been coaching in the NBA since 1997 as an assistant. In 2005, Brown received his first chance as a head coach, taking over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Under Brown, the Cavs made it to the NBA Finals in 2007, but lost to the Spurs. Along with the Cavaliers and Kings, Brown served as the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. Brown has been named NBA Coach of the Year twice, first in 2008-09 season and then in the 2022-23 season.
Brown can now add NBA champion as a head coach to his already decorated basketball resume.
