Ashton McCulloch fires even par first round in RBC Canadian Open

The PGA Tour has made its yearly stop to the country of Canada, where the RBC Canadian Open will take place at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in Ontario. In the field this week is recent Spartan graduate Ashton McCulloch.

The Kingston, Ontario, Canada native spent five seasons with the Spartans golf program before turning professional. Now, as a pro, he is teeing it up at Canada's PGA Tour event for the third straight year.

In his first round, McCulloch fired off an even par 70, landing him in a tie for 98th. A four birdie, four bogey performance, the 98th place position does not look ideal, but with the leaders at -6, there is a log jam of golfers in the top 100.

McCulloch is probably just two shots off of the cut line, and will need a big performance on Friday to make it into the weekend.

He will tee off at 2:16 p.m. on the first tee on Friday afternoon.
