Packers TE Tucker Kraft: 'I want to play for this organization my entire career'

Tight end Tucker Kraft is almost certainly nearing a life-changing contract extension with the Green Bay Packers, and he made it clear that he hopes he'll stay in Green Bay for the entirety of his pro football career.

"I'd say my goal is I want to play for this organization my entire career," Kraft said, via Mike Spofford of Packers.com. "I'm spoiled to have been drafted here and this is all I know. Green and gold is all I know, so we'd like to keep it that way."

Precious few players manage to play their entire career with one team, but Kraft is well on his way to ensuring he'll be in Green Bay for the next half-decade.

The Packers took Kraft out of South Dakota State in the third round of the 2023 draft. After originally playing behind Luke Musgrave as a rookie, Kraft has since emerged as one of the NFL's best young tight ends over the last two seasons -- even despite a season-ending knee injury in October of last year.

Now, with his rookie contract entering its final year, Kraft is nearing an extension with the Packers that will likely make him one of the game's highest-paid tight ends.

A typical four-year contract extension tacked onto his current rookie deal would tie Kraft to Green Bay through the 2030 season.

Kraft doesn't turn 26 years old until November of this year, so he is only now entering his physical prime. And while he'll be coming off a torn ACL, Kraft said he's expecting to be full go come Week 1 -- meaning he's planning on playing a full season in 2026.

Once Kraft has an extension, the core of the passing game in Green Bay -- Kraft, quarterback Jordan Love and receivers Jayden Reed, Christian Watson and Matthew Golden -- will be under contract for multiple seasons into the future.
