The Pirates' brutal stretch of health issues continued with outfielder Oneil Cruz landing on the injured list because of a hand injury.

The 27-year-old is having a productive season, batting .264 with 14 home runs and 44 RBIs. While Pittsburgh did recently get Ryan O'Hearn back from a quad injury, the team will have to move forward without Cruz and Konnor Griffin, who is still recovering from a forearm injury.

Oneil Cruz injury updates
Cruz was placed on the 10-day injured list with left hand fourth and fifth metacarpal non-displaced fractures, retroactive to June 8.

Cruz played against the Braves on June 5 and 6, but he was removed from the starting lineup before the final game of the series because of "recurrent discomfort" in his left hand. He injured his hand on June 6 during a slide into home plate.
How long is Oneil Cruz out?
Cruz is expected to miss four to six weeks, according to Kevin Gorman of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Based on that timeline, it's possible that Cruz could be out until the All-Star break in mid-July.
The Pirates recalled Billy Cook from Triple-A Indianapolis to fill the open spot on the active roster.
