Eintracht Frankfurt consistently scour the 2. Bundesliga for its biggest talents. Can Uzun and Nathaniel Brown are just two examples of how Die Adler have made moves for big talents from Germany’s second division that have paid off. According to reporter Kerry Hau, they wish to repeat the trick to sign former Hannover 96 loanee and current Bayern Munich player Noël Aséko Nkili:

Eintracht Frankfurt is actively working on a transfer for Noel Aseko and is offering the midfielder a contract until 2030 with the option for an additional year! He is a top transfer target for Markus Krösche. AS Roma is also continuing to push hard for Aseko. A stay at FC Bayern remains possible nonetheless. There are important advocates for Aseko within the club. However, SGE and Roma are tempting him with plenty of playing time that he might not get in Munich.

BFW Analysis

With the departure of Leon Goretzka, there is space in the midfield for Nkili. However, the young German could look at Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlović and Tom Bischof ahead of him in the pecking order and conclude that he will sitll not get enough game time. Certainly, competition in midfield will be weaker at Frankfurt. That will presumably be the case in Rome, as well.

It is also easy to connect Frankfurt’s interest in Nkili to Bayern’s pursuit of Frankfurt’s Brown. Perhaps Frankfurt would be interested in lowering Brown’s price tag if Bayern included Nkili in a potential deal? But, considering the Bavarians are trying to close the deal before the World Cup truly gets underway, perhaps adding another element to the negotiations will make talks more difficult. Furthermore, Nkili is not just some asset to be traded in. He could be a talent that reaches the same kind of price tag as Brown one day. Bayern will need to be careful here.
