The Iowa football program added a big-time recruit to its 2027 class on Sunday. The Hawkeyes also officially offered a fast-rising three-star safety.

On Sunday afternoon, Iowa landed a commitment from three-star defensive lineman Bariyus Allen. Not long after Allen announced his intentions to commit to Iowa, news came out that the Hawkeyes had extended an offer to another defensive player in the 2027 class.

Three-star safety Jonathan Harris took to X on Sunday to announce that he received an offer from Iowa.

Harris visited Iowa City on Friday, and it looks like Iowa liked him enough to offer him quickly afterwards. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound safety is from Oak Lawn, Ill., and Brother Rice High School. Harris is the 38th-best prospect from the state of Illinois and the 109th safety in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports.

Per 247Sports, Harris holds five other offers from Missouri State, Sacramento State, Butler, Western Illinois, and Chicago State. Iowa is the only visit he's taken at the moment. Harris helped lead Brother Rice to a 13-1 record last season and will have his senior year to continue improving his stock.

The Hawkeyes currently possess just one commitment in the secondary for the 2027 class: three-star safety Jake Thies. That's a number that will almost certainly go up by the time the class is finalized. Kirk Ferentz, Phil Parker, and the rest of the staff will try to ensure that Harris is a part of it.

Here's a look at Harris' highlight tape:
