Driver dead after hitting parked truck in Etobicoke; 13 hurt after buses collide in York

A male driver is dead after a vehicle crashed into a parked truck Monday evening in Etobicoke.

Toronto Police said officers and paramedics responded to a collision at about 6:30 p.m. in the Shorncliffe and Bramshott Rds. area and that the driver of the vehicle that crashed into the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported. There was no one else in either vehicle at the time, a police spokesperson said.

Cops said the investigation was ongoing and to expect traffic delays in the area.

Bus crash injures 13 people

The crash in Etobicoke came not long after two TTC buses collided in York on Monday afternoon.

The incident happened just before 3 p.m. in the Weston Rd.-Lawrence Ave. W. area, with 13 people being hospitalized for minor injuries.

Citing information from paramedics , CP24 reported that a 16-year-old and a dozen adults suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

No information was available on what caused the crash and a police spokesperson said no charges have been laid “at this time.”

Youth critically hurt in Hamilton

Cops, meanwhile, were investigating a “serious motor-vehicle collision” that left a girl with life-threatening injuries on Monday afternoon in the West Mountain area of Steeltown.

Hamilton Police said the crash happened at about 1:45 p.m. in the Garth St.-Sabrina Blvd. area and involved a young female pedestrian, who was struck by a vehicle travelling southbound on Garth.

The girl was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, while police said the driver remained at the scene and was co-operating with investigators.

Cops said they were still trying to confirm the girl’s age and identity.
