On Monday, FARPost, reported that the Soweto giants have already had talks with Da Cruz as well as Portuguese coach Alexandre Dos Santos with the former favourite to land the job.

Da Cruz is no stranger to South Africa and has had a brief spell with Kaizer Chiefs as Nasreddine Nabi’s assistant two years ago.

Amakhosi are without a coach, having parted ways with both Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze last month.

Which players will Kaizer Chiefs keep?

Chiefs and forward Wandile Duba have reportedly agreed on a new two-year deal, which will keep him at the club until 2028. The 22-year-old has not had the best seasons but found form in the last quarter of the 2025/26 campaign.

“The club has offered him (Duba) two years,” an informer told Soccer Laduma.

“They want to keep him because he is one for the future, and they believe in him.

“I believe by the time the team goes for pre-season in Europe, everything will be finalised. Apparently, all is in order,” the insider concluded.

Which players will likely leave Kaizer Chiefs?

Aden McCarthy has been solid at the back for Amakhosi this season. It is reported that in April, the 22-year-old penned a new deal which contained a clause that would allow him to leave if a European club put in a suitable bid.

Soccer Laduma reported that an unnamed European club was interested in McCarthy which could activiate his clause.

Another Kaizer Chiefs star set to leave is striker Ashley Du Preez. The former Stellenbosch FC forward has not featured much this season and looks likely to be heading out of Naturena.

“Not the season I imagined, but maybe the season I needed,” said Du Preez on his Instagram account.

“This season tested me, humbled me, and grew me. I leave it stronger, wiser, and trusting God more than ever.

“I learned more in the struggle than I ever did in comfort. I will continue trusting God’s timing for everything ahead. Praise God.”

Other players who are likely to leave Kaizer Chiefs include George Matlou, Gaston Sirino as well as Khanyisa Mayo.
