Hamilton cops hunting killer man who vanished in April

In fact, there will be no more aging of any kind for the Hamilton man.
Detectives say Sydor — who vanished on April 21, 2026 — was murdered and their probe into his disappearance has become a homicide investigation.
The end of the line for Sydor came at the age of 48.
Floating in Hamilton Bay
On May 27, cops put out a media release stating they were “concerned for his well-being.” On Friday, a Stelco employee found Sydor’s body floating in Hamilton Bay near Pier 16. A post-mortem determined that Sydor had been murdered.
They said in the release that Sydor was driving a family member’s black 2014 Volkswagen Jetta with tinted windows.
At a press conference on Monday morning, detectives were tight-lipped on how Sydor died. Detective John Overback said Sydor was known to police and had used several aliases in the past. He refused to elaborate on Sydor’s past interactions with law enforcement.
“The cause of death and details surrounding his injuries are not being released at this time in order to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation,” cops said in a news release.
In 2015, the Halton Regional Police’s Burlington office reached out to the public seeking help in tracking Sydor down for a slew of crimes. According to cops, in March 2011 Sydor entered a residential parking lot in Burlington and stole a vehicle, then continued to damage and steal from several vehicles that were parked overnight.

He was also accused of stealing various items, including four tires and rims from a car, GPS units and credit cards that were inside the vehicles.
In addition, Sydor was accused of breaking into and stealing items from several storage lockers. He made the wanted list after failing to appear in court in February 2012.
At the time, he was also wanted by Hamilton cops for 29 counts of possession and use of a credit card, seven counts of fraud under $5,000, two counts each of breach of an undertaking and failure to comply with recognizance, and one count each of fraud over $5,000 and breach of probation.
It isn’t clear what the outcome of the charges against the Polish-born Sydor was.
And now, he’s dead.
“Marcin’s disappearance prompted an extensive missing person investigation. Investigators pursued numerous avenues in an effort to locate him after his absence was reported and quickly determined that his disappearance was out of character and inconsistent with his usual behaviour,” the press release said.

Now, investigators are asking anyone who had contact with Marcin, observed him, or has information regarding his activities and movements prior to his death to contact police. Investigators are also seeking information regarding Marcin’s black 2014 Volkswagen Jetta with tinted windows.
