Star LSU Tigers CF Derek Curiel Doesn't Rule Out Return For One More Season
· Yahoo Sports
Proceed with extreme caution, LSU Tigers fans, but star baseball player Derek Curiel hasn't apparently not 100% decided on heading to the MLB just yet.
The expectation for the past two year, really, has been that Curiel will come to the Tigers for two season and then head to the draft where he will be a first round pick. His birthday falls right past the cutoff date to make him eligible as a sophomore.

His sophomore season just wrapped, and he played, very well once again, so many LSU fans had already assumed that they had seen the last of the center fielder in purple and gold.
During an appearance on Matt Moscona's "After Further Review," however, Curiel left the door open to head back to Baton Rouge for one more season.

"I definitely don't have all my eggs in one basket yet. I've definitely talked to Coach [Jay] Johnson. I obviously want to be a Tiger. I told him, if there's a coach I could play for forever, it would be him. It definitely sucks. I'll be the youngest guy in the draft this year, college-wise. [I'm only eligible for this draft] by like a month. So, it's definitely a tough decision to make."
That statement far from makes his return to the team next season, to be clear, but the door is open. If the early feedback he gets from the MLB draft isn't good enough, perhaps he can come back for one more season. His team would certainly be able to use the potential return as a negotiating tactic for both sides, which is also a fair approach.
The outfielder remained elite as a sophomore, posting a .353/.431/.526 slash line with six home runs, 46 RBI and 13 stolen bases.Â
