District 3 Class 2A girls lacrosse: Karly Hyde’s goal lifts Wyomissing to 6-5 win over Twin Valley

Wyomissing didn’t get a chance during the BCIAA girls lacrosse tournament to avenge a regular-season loss to Twin Valley.

When the opportunity came on Tuesday night at Millersville University, the Spartans weren’t going to let it slip away.

Junior Karly Hyde had three goals, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter, as the third-seeded Spartans beat the top-seeded Raiders 6-5 for their second straight District 3 Class 2A title.

Wyomissing (20-2) will host the third-place finisher from District 7 in the first round of the PIAA tournament on Tuesday. Twin Valley will play at the District 2 winner the same day.

Twin Valley (18-2) beat Wyomissing 12-7 on April 21. In the BCIAA tournament, Wyomissing lost to Wilson in the semifinals with Twin Valley beating Wilson 8-6 for the title.

In the district tournament, Wyomissing beat York Catholic in the quarterfinals (19-7) and Susquehannock (11-6) to set up the rematch with Twin Valley.

For the Raiders on Tuesday, senior Ellie Kaplan scored three goals to become the program’s all-time goal scorer. She now has 293, breaking the record of 291 set by Emma Raines.
