Texas A&M drops two spots in the RPI rankings before Selection Monday
· Yahoo Sports
No. 9 Texas A&M (39-14, 18-11 SEC) enters Monday's NCAA Tournament Selection Show on a low note after falling to the Auburn Tigers in the Quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament on Friday night, looking lifeless at the plate after registering just two hits, while the Florida Gators' tournament run before losing to Georgia likely destroyed any chance of the Aggies earning a national seed.
While the Gators' loss at least provided a glimmer of hope that the 8-seed is still in play, Florida looks like the stronger team based on both programs' late-season finishes, with more Quad 1 wins and a higher RPI ranking. However, Texas A&M's series road win over Florida should count when it comes to the final seeding, while the Aggies' total body of work includes an impressive six SEC series victories.

Heading into Sunday, Arkansas will face top-seeded Georgia for the SEC Tournament Championship Game, and neither result will affect Texas A&M's postseason seeding. Based on D1Baseball's latest projections, Texas A&M will likely drop to the 10-seed, meaning hosting a Super Regional will be off the table.
Even more likely, given recent history, it's in the realm of possibility that the Aggies will be paired with the Texas Longhorns, who could drop to the 6-seed, if Texas A&M drops to the 11-seed, which, again, is very possible after Florida and Southern Miss went on runs in their conference tournaments.
Texas A&M dropped two spots in the RPI rankings to No. 13, which will likely stay pat going into Monday's Selection Show. Here is where the Aggies rank among the rest of the SEC.
