Two different stops are on the resume for Martin before ultimately landing in Baton Rouge. He originally committed to the Miami Hurricanes coming out of Buford (GA) High School. Martin was a three-star prospect at the time, coming in as the No. 1,3880 overall player in the 2022 class. This comes via the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Martin also played baseball early in his college days, appearing in two games for the Hurricanes. He then transferred over to East Tennessee State in 2023, not getting any action on the diamond
A year off eventually led Martin to Middle Tennessee State, getting back into football. He did not make any appearances in 2025 and was considered a valuable member of the scout team. The 5’11, 231-pound player now heads into the SEC with a fresh opportunity.
One more season of eligibility is expected out of Martin. His official Middle Tennessee State roster bio listed him as a redshirt junior for the past season. So, a year under Kiffin’s tutelage. And in a pretty busy quarterback room.

LSU, Lane Kiffin continue to add quarterbacks out of the transfer portal
Kiffin knew he needed to rebuild the quarterback room this offseason. A heavy dosage from the transfer portal was coming. Thankfully for Kiffin, that’s nothing new in his career. He is more than comfortable bringing outside faces into the program.
As mentioned, Martin’s commitment is No. 4 at QB. Sam Leavitt is the biggest fish of them all. Leavitt comes from Arizona State and projects to be the starter for the opener vs. Clemson. Health is currently a question for him, though, and will be through the summer.
USC‘s Husan Longstreet is a former five-star prospect who might be LSU’s future. He figures to be a reserve alongside Landen Clark, who comes from Elon. Certainly a wide range of backgrounds Kiffin has decided to take on, hoping to find the right equation.
