New England Patriots veteran wideout Kayshon Boutte has been mentioned as a potential trade chip in the expected trade involving Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro wide receiver A.J. Brown.

ESPN's Mike Reiss reported that Boutte is still working out away from the team facility with his future in New England currently up in the air. The 24-year-old receiver is entering the final year of his contract on a Patriots team that signed Romeo Doubs in free agency.
It's also a team that appears to be the frontrunner in the Brown trade sweepstakes. If the Patriots get both Doubs and Brown, one has to wonder if Boutte could be on the way out. Perhaps he'd even be used in a trade package to land Brown.
"I think that would be something that wouldn’t surprise me, I don’t know if that’s what’s going to happen," Reiss said on Boutte being traded, when appearing on 98.5 The Sports Hub. "I don’t know if it should happen. He played really well for them last year.”
Boutte served as Patriots quarterback Drake Maye's favorite deep threat target throughout the 2025 season.
In 14 game appearances, he hauled in 33 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns on 16.7 yards per catch. Boutte earned himself more targets and perhaps a bigger opportunity in 2026. However, there's a real possibility that opportunity won't come with the Patriots.
More mouths to feed could mean fewer targets for Boutte, who was already seeing a significant drop-off from 68 targets to 46 last season.
