Big decisions have to made in the Philadelphia 76ers organization in the offseason. The first domino just fell as they parted ways with Daryl Morey. Calls about the future of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Nick Nurse, and Paul George will also be of concern to them. Who will be overseeing these decisions while the 76ers are in a state of limbo? It is none other than former Golden State Warriors dynasty general manager Bob Myers.
76ers get help from former Warriors GM Myers
The 76ers have moved on from Daryl Morey after five years. This triggers a lot of moves that concern the organization. Before having to tackle what the future will hold for players like Joel Embiid and Paul George, they first have to figure out who becomes the new President of Basketball Operations. They have found the person who will help do that in Bob Myers, per Tony Jones and David Aldridge of The Athletic.
See, Myers is currently the president of Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment. He will get to oversee and decide which of the candidates will take over the 76ers President of Basketball Operations post after Morey. In the meantime, a lot of the team's daily biddings will have to go through Myers.
This is not at all a bad thing. Myers has been a great leader for the Golden State Warriors from 2012 to 2023 as he served as their general manager. He ushered in the growth of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson. The moves to let Kevin Durant join and extend Steve Kerr? All of that was Myers too.
Winning is in Myers' genetic makeup. The 76ers can benefit a lot from his expertise after seeing Morey walk out of their doors. Embiid, Maxey and Edgecombe will surely benefit from the moves he makes.
