Florida is coming off a big series win over the Oklahoma Sooners, securing things with a run-rule victory on Sunday. While the Gators remain outside the top 10, a third-ranked strength of schedule and a nation-best 15 Quadrant 1 wins have Florida in the picture to host a super regional.
Right now, D1Baseball has Florida hosting the 12th-seed regional and paired up with RPI No. 5 North Carolina in the Chapel Hill Super Regional. The Field of 64 projections has Florida hosting RPI No. 23 Wake Forest, TCU and Bethune-Cookman. The Wildcats already have an upset win over the Gators, but Florida has yet to play the other two teams mentioned.
D1Baseball’s projection is not an official bracket, but it offers a snapshot of where teams stand entering the final weeks. It is assembled by Mark Etheridge, Kendall Rogers and Aaron Fitt, who have a combined 60 years of experience covering college baseball.
Baseball America is less bullish on the Orange and Blue, putting Florida as the No. 14 seed in its latest playoff projections. Nebraska, NC State and North Florida — Florida's Tuesday night opponent — are the other teams in this projection of the Gainesville Regional. The third-seeded Texas Longhorns would host the super regional in this scenario.
Florida has two weekend series remaining in the regular season: vs. Kentucky and at LSU.
