NOTICE: R509 925 PowerBall prize unclaimed, won via ABSA banking app

· The South African

ITHUBA, operators of the South African national lottery, are on the hunt for a PowerBall 2nd Division winner who has yet to claim a R509 925 prize.

The winning ticket was bought using the ABSA banking app on 18 July 2025.

Visit newssport.cv for more information.

Almost a year on, the lucky punter still has not come forward.

What you need to know

  • Prize: R509 925
  • Game: PowerBall (2nd Division)
  • Date won: 18 July 2025
  • How it was bought: ABSA banking app
  • Expiry date: 18 July 2026

Open the ABSA app and have a look

So this one was bought online through the ABSA banking app. Which means somewhere out there, an ABSA customer is sitting on more than half a bar without realising it. Wild stuff.

If you have ever played the PowerBall through your ABSA app, open it up and scroll back to 18 July 2025.

Check the numbers. Yes, even if you reckon you have already done so. Stranger things have happened.

ITHUBA has confirmed the prize will expire exactly one year after the draw.

After 18 July 2026, the money will be transferred to the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF), where they are reallocated to support “good causes,” charitable initiatives, and community projects throughout South Africa.

Halala in advance

If it turns out to be you, halala big time. R509 925 will sort out a holiday, knock a chunk off the bond, top up the emergency fund and still leave you smiling.

But you have to actually claim it first. So go on, check.

Spread the word

Got a mate or family member who plays the PowerBall through their ABSA app? Give them a tap on the shoulder.

It could be them sitting on R509 925 and none the wiser.

How to claim

Winners can claim prizes through any participating retailer, post office, or by contacting the National Lottery directly on 0800 484 822.

Larger prizes need to be claimed at an ITHUBA office with the original ticket details, a valid ID and proof of banking details.
