Kentucky will find out where Tyran Stokes will play today

· Yahoo Sports

Tuesday has become a huge day for Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats. In a key offseason for the program, and for Pope personally, the recruitment of Tyran Stokes has been the center of all plans. Long after most recruits have made their decision, Stokes will finally make his.

Per Matt Norlander of CBS Sports, Stokes will announce his commitment today at 3:30 P.M. ET on ESPN's NBA Today. It's expected to be either Kentucky or Kansas, though Oregon has been in the mix as well.

Stokes is the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class in every major service's rankings. The 6'7", 230 lb wing has a varied skill set that allows him to not only score in bunches, but be a solid defender as well. He has very good strength and can drive to the basket, but is skilled enough to get himself open jumpshots as well. He's still developing as a three-point shooter, but continues to show improvement there.

Kentucky has some very good players on the roster for next season, but lacks a pure scorer who can take over games. Stokes is certainly that caliber of player, and can be a difference maker for them. Unfortunately, he can be that guy for Kansas too.

The Jayhawks have had the momentum of late, and are predicted to get him, but Pope has tried to make up ground. We'll see if it paid off this afternoon.
