Just one day after snapping their 12-game losing streak, the New York Mets have announced some troubling news.

All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain. He left Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Twins after running the bases in the fourth inning.

Francys Romero of BeisbolFR reports that Lindor's replacement on the roster is infielder Ronny Mauricio.

Lindor's injury happened on the same day that superstar outfielder Juan Soto returned from the injured list. Soto missed 15 of the NL East club's previous games with a right calf strain.

For Lindor, this is his first trip to the IL since 2021. Not including this season, he's played 150 or more games seven times since making his Major League debut in 2015 with the Cleveland Guardians

Expect Bo Bichette to rotate back to his natural position at shortstop while Lindor is out. Bichette took over at the middle infield spot following his teammate's early exit against the Twins.

It could be a short stint away from the team for Lindor, but the Mets really needed all hands on deck to turn their poor start to the season around.
