Father and son accused of altering VINs; male wanted for indecent act, sex assault in Pickering

A father and son are facing charges in Halton following a monthslong police investigation into altered vehicle identification numbers.

Halton Regional Police said an investigation began last November when two vehicles were believed to have altered VINs after inconsistencies were identified with their Ministry of Transportation registrations and documentation.
Cops allege fake bills of sale and letters of employment were used to register the vehicles to an unsuspecting local company.
During the investigation, police seized a 2023 Ford F-150 stolen out of Mississauga and a 2021 Dodge Charger stolen out of Windsor, both of which had altered VINs.
Police said 55-year-old Amer Kunda, of Orangeville, was charged Feb. 4 with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime – obliterated VIN, five counts of uttering forged documents, and three counts each of disobeying a court order and driving while under suspension.
The following month, police charged 28-yer-old Sameil Kunda, of Milton, with two counts each of uttering forged documents and driving while under suspension.
Cops said both accused were released from custody pending a future court date.
Investigators believe there may be additional offences and released photos of the accused.

Male wanted for indecent act, sex assault in Pickering
A male suspect is wanted by police following an alleged indecent act and sexual assault in Pickering in recent weeks.
Durham Regional Police said the suspect committed the offences on two separate occasions at a store located inside The Shops at Pickering City Centre on Kingston Rd.
Police said, on March 26, a male entered a clothing store. While using a change room, the suspect allegedly exposed his genitals to customers and staff. He was then escorted off the property by mall security.
The second incident occurred on April 2, police said, when the same suspect returned to the clothing store and allegedly sexually assaulted a female employee. The victim did not suffer any physical injuries.

Cops said the suspect fled the area prior to officers arriving at the scene.
Investigators describe the suspect as Brown, approximately 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8 with a thin build and black facial hair.

Man, 38, accused of historical sex assault in Barrie
Police in Barrie say a 38-year-old man has been accused of sexually assaulting a teen girl more than a decade ago, and investigators believe there may be more victims.
Barrie Police said an investigation was launched last month after the victim, who was 15 years old at the time of the alleged incident, came forward.
Cops said the incident occurred August 2014 at the former Spotlight Event Centre on Essa Rd., where the accused was the owner and manager at the time.
Brice Bunn, also known as Brice Jacobs, was charged on Sunday with sexual assault and sexual interference.
Police released images of the man, who is also accused in two other similar incidents that occurred at local establishments where he was employed as a manager, police said.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are asking anyone with information to come forward as there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences.

Man sent to trauma centre, suspect arrested in Pickering
A man was transported to a trauma centre in Toronto in stable condition on Wednesday following an unknown incident in Pickering, police say.
Durham Regional Police said in an afternoon social media update that a suspect is in custody.
A large police presence continues in the area of Liverpool Rd. and Finch Ave., cops added, and will provide details about the incident at a later time.
No other information about the police investigation was provided.
