Atlanta Braves' Chris Sale Reveals Lesson He's Learned in His Career

The Atlanta Braves have a true ace in Chris Sale. At 37 years old, Sale has learned a lot throughout his time in the big leagues. The veteran southpaw recently revealed one lesson he's learned that has helped his MLB career in a crucial manner.

Sale explained how he isn't letting difficult moments or bad performances bother him as much as they used to, via Chris Rose Sports.

"I've changed a little bit through the years," Sale said. "It (bad starts) used to bother me a lot, and I'd go down there and blow stuff up... (Now) those are easier ones to just let go of."

He later added that being the same person every day is important given how long an MLB season is. Sale explained that he has learned to "keep grinding" through adversity, as baseball is certainly a "humbling game."

Chris Sale's Impressive MLB Career

Sale is one of the best pitchers in recent memory. He has earned one Cy Young award and he's also finished within the top six of Cy Young voting on eight separate occasions. The left-hander has earned nine All-Star appearances as well. 

For his career, Sale has pitched to a 3.01 ERA. He currently has over 2,600 strikeouts during his time in the big leagues as well. Sale has continued to make a legitimate case for baseball's Hall of Fame. The Braves star is continuing to build that case, as he is still an incredible starting pitcher.

So far in 2026, Sale has pitched to a 3.27 ERA. He is practicing what he is preaching as well. 

Following a previous bad start that saw him surrender six earned runs to the Los Angeles Angels, Sale bounced back on Sunday. He turned in six innings of one run baseball while striking out six hitters en route to a big win.

Perhaps earlier in his career Sale would not have bounced back in such a manner. He learned his lesson, though, and he looked impressive on Sunday despite his previous difficult outing. 

Sale, Braves 2026 Season

The Braves are currently playing the Miami Marlins. Atlanta entered the game with a 10-6 record and in first place in the National League East division.

It has been an impressive campaign for a ball club that was decimated by injuries in spring training. The ball clubs' expectations from the outside were limited as a result, but the Braves never gave up hope. One has to imagine that Sale's veteran leadership has played a role in Atlanta's strong start.

Chris Sale and the Braves will do everything they can to continue finding success moving forward. And if they struggle at all, the team should have no problem bouncing back.
