Arne Slot reaction — Liverpool boss on win over Fulham, Ngumoha and Salah stunners
Feeling good after that win? "Happier than us losing 4-0 and 2-0. So yeah good first half. We were close a few times and then Rio had a great moment. Just before that I felt that Fulham got a bit more into the game so it was really helpful that Rio had a great 1v1 moment and then Mo finished one off. Quite comfortable at halftime."
Ngumoha's goal was special: "One of his strength is dominating the 1v1. We've seen this season as he gets more and more and more playing time and that's what he deserves. When he plays, he plays really well and today he scored which is vital in football. Goals matter a lot."
Team room must be a great place right now: "It's a better place than it was 2-3 days ago or a week ago but it's also not that after we win everything is good again."
"Of course everyone can understand after these two losses, the 4-nil and the 2-nil felt more than 2-nil. To come out today and built Fulham after only two days of rest that shows the mentality of the team."
Gives you a lift? "We've played many games like this this season but unfortunately that hasn't always led to a win or a clean sheet."
"I was really happy with the clean sheet because you need that almost in every game but definitely we need that on Tuesday. It was a good first half going into a massive week because it's not just PSG, it's Everton at the weekend."
Rio Ngumoha reaction
On his goal: "Coming back to Anfield with three points was a great feeling. It was a special goal. Robbo made the overlap, created space. I cut inside and hit it inside the far post."
On Liverpool giving him the stage for a big career: "Liverpool for me is the biggest club in the world. To start so young and the manager having belief in me and all the players. I've just gotta keep pushing on."
Andy Robertson reaction
On Ngumoha: "He keeps learning, he's such a good kid. Him and Trey are a pleasure to work with. We can see him improving all the time. He's got a big future ahead of him."
On his first start after announcing this is last year at Liverpool: "I knew my song would get sung a couple of times. This club means everything to me. That's a fact. I've been nine years. I was a boy one time, and I became a man here. This club's made me who I am today. I'm just going to try and enjoy every minute."
Virgil van Dijk reaction
"Good win. To keep a clean sheet as well, which felt like ages ago. We take it and move on. It's up to us to be in the shape possible to hopefully make it a special goal on Tuesday."
On Ngumoha having so much potential: "Down to him. Down to the people around him as well. Good game from him, important goal. Now it's onto the next."
First goal settled things down: "Of course scoring the first goal is very important. Playing against Fulham who haven't played in a while so we had to be ready and patient. Our first half was good. Second half maybe a little fatigue kicks in, which is absolutely normal."
Does this help set things right? "One game doesn't define us — hopefully it does but it's down to us to prepare for hopefully a special night on Tuesday. That's our main target so don't get carried away whatsoever. Rest up, and get ready for an outstanding team and show belief from start to finish. I've been lucky and privileged to be a part of special competitions and I'll make sure everyone is ready."
