Annis selected the Canes ahead of numerous other offers, with Auburn and Tennessee also among his leading candidates.
He's the latest in several top recruiting pickups for Miami and head coach Mario Cristobal, who signed three of the Times-Union Super 11 — Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings, Bolles lineman JJ Sparks and St. Augustine wide receiver Somourian Wingo — in the 2026 signing class.
The Knox Annis file
Rated as a three-star recruit in the 247Sports composite, the 6-3, 205-pound Annis is entering his third year as Mandarin starter. He took over behind center two games into his freshman year after Tramell Jones Jr., now at Florida, sustained a season-ending August 2024 leg injury.
In 2025, Annis completed 112 of 186 passes for 2,203 yards with 22 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He improved his completion percentage significantly, from 43 percent to above 60 percent from his freshman to his sophomore year.
Annis also demonstrated the athletic skills to extend plays and pick up drive-changing yardage on the ground, rushing 34 times for 330 yards last year.
Through two seasons, he already has 3,552 yards through the air, which puts him on pace to rank among Duval County's all-time passing leaders if he finishes with strong junior and senior years.
At Mandarin, he links up with one of the nation's premier receiving prospects in five-star sophomore Brysen Wright, while the Mustangs are also set to return 1,200-yard running back Shaunqueze Foster for their 2026 offense.
