The Baltimore Orioles were a team that focused on retooling the starting rotation a bit. They re-signed Zach Eflin, but struck a deal with Chris Bassitt, and acquired Shane Baz in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Unfortunately, the club lost a big piece recently, as Eflin underwent Tommy John surgery and won't be ready to return until next season.
However, the club does have a good stable of arms waiting in the wings. Albert Suarez took over for Eflin when he originally went down, while Brandon Young was recently called up to fill a starting role.

The Orioles have a few of their top prospects nearly ready to make their debut. One of these players is Trey Gibson, a right-handed pitcher and the team's No. 3 prospect.
He was an undrafted free agent who signed with the team in 2023 and has made his way through the minors. He is currently pitching at the Triple-A level, getting stretched out, and could make his mark across MLB sometime this season.
He is someone that MLB Pipeline has circled as a potential impact call-up for the O's.
"Gibson has exceeded expectations in many ways already. He carried a 31.5 percent strikeout rate over the last two years into the 2026 season, and though it's been a rough start to the season with the Tides, he has a full arsenal of offerings and has shown enough control/command to be a starting pitcher addition once he's fully stretched out and the need arises in Baltimore."
He has had some struggles so far this season, but he has shown enough to see what he has at the big-league level. He throws two different sliders and a curveball that can miss bats.
He is one prospect that fans will want to get familiar with here soon.
