SEC names Texas A&M sophomore Pitcher of the Week
· Yahoo Sports
Texas A&M capped off a strong week of baseball with a series win over Vanderbilt, improving to 7–5 in SEC play and strengthening its case for a postseason berth. The offense continues to carry the load while the pitching staff works to find consistency, but one weekend starter made a definitive statement in Nashville.
In Friday night’s second game of the doubleheader, sophomore right‑hander Aiden Sims delivered his best performance of the season. After being challenged by head coach Jason Kelly to raise the standard, Sims answered with a dominant complete‑game shutout in Game 3, allowing just three hits to lock up the series victory.

The Aggies will need to lean heavily on their high‑powered offense as the pitching staff stabilizes, but outings like this from Sims can ease the pressure considerably. When he’s in command, it keeps the lineup from feeling the need to press and gives A&M a true tone‑setter on the mound.
Below is the excerpt from the league’s official release:
"Texas A&M’s Aiden Sims tossed a seven-inning shutout in the series-clinching win against Vanderbilt. In 7.0 innings pitched, Sims struck out eight batters, allowing just three hits and two walks, limiting hitters to a .125 batting average against in the contest. The win marked Sims' third consecutive conference win."
