Reader joined the Detroit Lions as an unrestricted free agent in 2024 after playing in 44 games over the previous four seasons with the Bengals.

Reader was a Cincinnati teammate of new Ravens defensive end Trey Hendrickson for three seasons, from 2021 to 2023.

When Reader signed with Detroit, he was recovering from a torn quad he suffered against the Minnesota Vikings in December 2023.

Reader played his first four NFL seasons in Houston.
