The New England Patriots are still looking to do some work in free agency, but for the most part, the majority of their big moves in this area have already been made. As a result, the front office has likely already begun turning its attention to the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.

While the Pats brought several big names to town, there are still some areas of weakness that need to be addressed. One such spot is the tight end position, even though Julian Hill was signed to a three-year, $15 million contract in free agency. New England appears to know it needs a developmental prospect here, as Tony Pauline of EssentiallySports reported that the team is showing interest in Georgia Bulldogs star Oscar Delp.

“Tight end Oscar Delp crushed his pro-day workout,” Pauline wrote. “His position work was outstanding, and as I earlier reported, many compared Delp’s pro day favorably to former Georgia tight end Brock Bowers. Delp ran sharp, crisp routes and caught the ball extremely well. Delp is now in the conversation for TE2. He met with the Carolina Panthers and is getting a lot of interest from the New England Patriots.”

Delp's stats won't jump off the page, as he caught just 20 receptions for 261 yards and one touchdown in 2025, but many evaluators are bullish on his upside. Standing at 6'5, 242 lbs, Delp has an ideal physical profile for a tight end, and he appears to have made quite an impression during his Pro Day.

With Delp climbing up boards, it seems like the Pats are going to be keeping tabs on him as the draft unfolds. If he slides down the board in the third round, it wouldn't be a shock to see New England make a move for him. There's still over a month to go before the draft starts, but Delp is a name well worth keeping a close eye on.
