The request is regarding their co-coach Cedric Kaze’s services for the upcoming international break.
Kaze has been leading the Glamour Boys alongside Khalil Ben Youssef since Nasreddine Nabi’s departure last year.
Now, the Burundian FA are hoping to loan him for the upcoming FIFA international break.
Kaizer Chiefs receive temporary Kaze request
The Burundian born coach knows the ins and outs of football back home.
He was involved in operations at virtually every level between under-17 and the senior side.
With his experience, the Burundian FA believe he’s the perfect man to help the country move forward.
And it’s for that reason that they wish to appoint the Kaizer Chiefs coach as their ‘Technical Director’.
According to FARPost, Kaze is wanted to help Burundi for their upcoming Afcon qualifiers.
They face Chad in a home-and-away preliminary round qualifier later this month.
“The Burundi Football Association has reportedly approached Kaizer Chiefs to secure the temporary release of Kaze for an upcoming AFCON qualifying double-header,” the publication reported.
It’s further claimed that should the Glamour Boys agree, Kaze will then help Burundi prepare for the matches as well as sit on their technical bench alongside head coach Patrick Sangwa.
Amakhosi’s upcoming diary
Kaizer Chiefs will be inactive throughout the period Burundi wish to use Kaze.
The second Burundi vs Chad match will take place on 31 March. The Glamour Boys only return to action a week later on 07 April.
It remains to be seen whether the Glamour Boys will accept the request. The international break may be viewed as a key time to get the squad back on track via the training field at Naturena.
Especially considering Kaizer Chiefs are going to have to fight hard for a top-three finish in the league.
