HIGHLIGHTS: Lake View softball comes up short in wild district thriller at home

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Lake View High School softball team took an early 7-1 lead Tuesday afternoon, but dropped a heartbreaking 15-14 decision at home against Lubbock-Cooper Liberty.

The Maidens were clinging to a 9-6 advantage after three innings before Liberty scored three in the top of the fourth, five in the fifth and one in the sixth to take a 15-9 cushion.
Lake View fought like crazy to pull off a comeback with five runs in the bottom of the sixth.
The teams combined for 33 hits — the Patriots had 18 and the Maidens had 15.
Errors played a key role, however, as Lake View committed six defensive miscues, compared to just one for the Patriots.
Lake View shortstop Kayla Dove had a monster game, going 2-for-4 with five RBI and two runs scored.
Ella Losoya went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored for the Maidens.
Liberty improved to 8-12 and 1-3 in district, and Lake View dropped to 5-10-1 and 1-3.
The Maidens travel to Snyder on Friday. Their next home game is Tuesday, March 24 against Frenship Memorial.
