UCLA's batters were able to take charge of the game as their resilient bullpen held Michigan scoreless until the eighth. The Bruins used seven different pitchers and they got the best of the Wolverines batters by allowing just two hits and five walks for two runs, while racking up 13 strikeouts.

The Bruins scored their first run off of a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first, but UCLA failed to score any runs in the bottom of the second to keep the game stagnant at 1-0 heading into the third.

UCLA's batters continued to assist their teammates with their second run coming from another sacrifice fly to left field in the bottom of the third. Junior infielder Roch Cholowsky smacked UCLA's only homer run of the game to put UCLA up 3-0 in the fourth.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Bruins got one runner home, but blew an opportunity for UCLA's offense to explode onto the scene with two consecutive outs ending the inning and making the bases loaded irrelevant.

The Bruins batting struggles carried over into the sixth with one batter getting on base, but UCLA picked it up in the seventh with three hits and three runs making it their most productive inning.

The Wolverines responded with two runs in the top of the eighth, but both came from UCLA miscues with a walk and a batter being hit by a pitch leading to Michigan getting on the board. The Bruins would hold Michigan scoreless in the ninth to close out the game.

UCLA returns to Jackie Robinson Stadium to play Pepperdine on Tuesday with an anticipated start time of 6 p.m. PT.
