NBA says it made an incorrect call late in Lakers-Nuggets thriller

The Los Angeles Lakers made a lot of clutch plays in their big victory on Saturday against the Denver Nuggets. While everyone will always remember Austin Reaves' rebound and basket off his intentionally missed free throw near the end of regulation, he made another key play right before that.
With 9.2 seconds left, a foul was called on Spencer Jones when he was trying to defend Reaves. Reaves shot two free throws and made both of them to bring Los Angeles to within one point, setting the stage for his heroics moments later after Cameron Johnson hit two foul shots of his own.

However, according to the NBA, Jones was incorrectly called for that foul.
Via ESPN:
"With 9.2 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and the Nuggets up 116-113, Lakers guard Austin Reaves headed to the free throw line following a foul by Spencer Jones immediately after the ball was inbounded.
"However, according to the report, Jones 'cleanly dislodges the ball away from Reaves' in what should have been a clean strip with the ball going out of bounds. Instead, Reaves headed to the line and drew the Lakers to within one point. It's unclear from the report whether the Lakers would have retained possession following the strip or whether it would have been ruled a turnover."
Los Angeles got this win in overtime thanks to some strong defense, as well as Luka Doncic's baseline jumper with 0.5 seconds to go.
The Nuggets could complain all they want, but they only have themselves to blame here. They led 109-102 with less than four minutes left in the fourth quarter, and they have mostly had the Lakers' number over the last three calendar years. Jamal Murray, who has been a thorn in the Lakers' sides, shot 1-of-14 from the field and mustered just five points.
Starting in January 2023, Denver had won 13 of 14 games against the Lakers, which included two playoff matchups. But since Doncic joined the Purple and Gold 13 months ago, they're now 4-2 versus Murray's crew.
