If the NFL's "Tush Push" ever goes away, it won't be for safety reasons.

The so-called Tush Push is a quarterback sneak that has been perfected by the Philadelphia Eagles with players lined up behind the QB, helping to push him across the line to gain. Some fans, pundits and team owners believe it's an ugly-looking play, and the league pushed to ban it, initially citing safety concerns.
So far, though, all efforts to ban it have fallen short. Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton has defended the play in the past, and he came to its defense again at the NFL combine.
“I don’t think the push sneak — I think if that ever goes away, it’s not a health and safety thing," Payton said. "We discussed that last year for two hours and we just adopted a thousand more kick returns. Which play do you think is more of a health risk? A thousand more kick returns. So I think if we choose to ever move on from that, it won’t be because of health and safety. It will just be like, ‘We don’t like it.’ Which is OK.”
Payton is now back on the NFL's competition committee, so he is involved in key decisions. He was asked at the combine what he likes about being on the committee.
“I like the pain," Payton quipped. "I like our league. I like talking about stuff like that. Like when I bring up that, we literally spent two hours on the health and safety of a quarterback sneak. That same, literally a half an hour prior, we passed a rule that allowed for over a thousand more kick [returns]. So every once in a while, your B.S. meter goes up. I’m passionate about the game and being involved in it.”
So, it seems that the Tush Push isn't going away anytime soon, especially if Payton has a say on it.
