For now, the Kansas City Chiefs and their fan base await an official decision on retirement, and then potentially on where he signs in free agency.
Kelce could choose to hang up his cleats and be done in the NFL.
If he opts to come back for more football, he's out of contract, making him a free agent. He could sign anywhere.
Reports on Sunday indicated that Kelce may test the open market and potentially sign with a new team for the first time in his NFL career.
But a report late Sunday night from the Associated Press' NFL writer Rob Maaddi contradicted those reports, with Maaddi writing this on X:
"Reported this at the combine: Travis Kelce is scheduled to become a free agent next month. A person with knowledge of Kelce’s thinking told The Associated Press the four-time All-Pro tight end will not test the market. If the 36-year-old Kelce returns for a 14th season, it’ll be in Kansas City with coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes."

That definitely feels more like the gut instinct of most people, that Kelce wouldn't come back just to take a risk on a new environment.
The Chiefs have things feeling just a bit more uncertain than they have in the past, though. Coming off a 6-11 season, there are question marks about roster construction. And Mahomes will be coming off a torn ACL.
Kansas City is all that Kelce has ever known in the NFL, though, and that likely counts for a whole lot.
His name will be in the headlines until his mind is made up. For now, the rumors and reports keep flowing on Kelce.
