The Beavers are 7-4 in an early season than includes wins over Oregon, Arizona and Michigan. Next up is a four-game weekend series with Xavier booked for March 6-9 at Goss Stadium in Corvallis.
OSU is happy to be staying home after playing the first 11 games on the road.
“We are excited to be home for a week,” Beavers coach Mitch Canham said, and later joked, “I think our wives and our children are excited about that."
Bats are starting to get warm in the Oregon State dugout as the Beavers have scored 21 runs in their last three outings.
In the March 3 win at Oregon, seven different Beavers hit the ball and two players, freshman left fielder Josh Proctor and senior catcher Jacob Galloway, had multiple hits. The Beavers scored a season-high 10 runs.
Proctor’s batting average is .346 in 26 at-bats and he boasts an on-base percentage of .393 in his young career. He’s always smiling, Canham said.
“Win or lose you’re continuing to learn and grow together,” Canham said of the team’s early season development at the plate. “We’ve been working, working, working and now with success in these last couple games, that doesn’t mean we slow down.”
