Over at CBS, Matt Norlander runs down some coaches who are likely to get new jobs when the Coaching Carousel cranks up soon, and since there are very likely to be some ACC openings in the next few weeks, we thought we’d take a look at a few. This is just speculation. To be clear, we haven’t heard anything in particular.

- Jarrod Calhoun (Utah State). He’s getting mentions for the Pitt job, which is expected to open. He’s also tied to the Cincinnati position if Wes Miller gets canned.
- Joe Gallo (Merrimack). He’s getting talked about for the BC job, which is also likely to be open.
- John Groce (Akron). We could easily see Pitt going after him. Or…
- Travis Steele (Miami of Ohio). An undefeated season (so far) will get your foot in a lot of doors. By the way, did you know Steele and Groce are half-brothers?
- Phil Martelli, Jr (VCU). Wake would be nuts not to look at him if they decide to make a move. He’s not on Norlander’s list, but he probably should be.
- Bryan Hodgson (South Florida). Norlander mentions Syracuse as a suitor. The problem with Syracuse, though, is you have no idea who your boss and your boss’s boss will be, as the A.D. and president have both announced their departures, and no replacements have been named. Apparently, Syracuse is not paying as well as some other schools, so that’s a serious concern as well. All in all, this job is not very appealing right now.
- Josh Schertz (Saint Louis). This guy has been great at Indiana State and at Saint Louis, but he’s had Cream Abdul-Jabbar, aka Robbie Avila, at both stops. He also has a reputation as an offensive wizard, and we bet Pitt would love that.
- Takayo Siddle (UNCW). ACC teams have traditionally identified young, talented coaches. Siddle has averaged 25 games a year, tossing out his first season because of Covid, and finished no lower than third in the CAA. That’s pretty solid. Another guy Wake should look at if they make a move.
Also mentioned as assistants who may move up: Duke’s Chris Carrawell and Emanuel Dildy. We’d hate to see either go, especially C-Well, but he’s ready and it would be an awful lot of fun to see him run his own show. Carrawell has an amazing personality and watching him blossom on the national stage as a coach would be a blast.
