A six-run first inning was more than enough for No. 13 Oklahoma on Friday as the Sooners dispatched Gonzaga, 14-4, in just eight innings from Kimrey Family Stadium.

The win was OU's second straight since they dropped their first game of the season Tuesday against Arizona State. Oklahoma will play Gonzaga again Saturday at 2 p.m. and close the three-game set Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Sooners batted around in the first inning. They loaded the bases for Trey Gambill with one out when Gambill scored Jason Walk from third base via an RBI groundout. Then, with two outs, the heat began. Brendan Brock walked to reload the bases. Alec Blair then plated two runs with an RBI single to right. Blair stole second and Brock stole third with Dayton Tockey at the plate and Gonzaga's catcher threw the ball away attempting to end the half-inning, leading to Brock scoring. Tockey finished the scoring with a two-run home run.

Cam Johnson, staked a 6-0 lead before he even took the hill, gave up three runs on nine hits over his five innings. He struck out nine and didn't walk a single batter. All three of Gonzaga's runs came in the third when Noah Meffert hit an RBI single and Ryder Young followed with a two-run homer. Johnson then struck out the final two batters to get out of the inning.

Tockey singled home two runs in response in the fifth and Brock popped a three-run homer in the sixth to make it 12-3. Jaxon Willits hit an RBI triple in eighth to counter Gonzaga's run in the top of that frame. And Gambill walked things off with an RBI single to score Willits and send everyone home.

The Sooners collected 10 hits and walked 12 times. Tockey finished 2 for 3 with a walk and four RBI while Willits and Brock scored three runs apiece.
