Greenwich boys swimming captures 19th straight FCIAC championship; 55th title overall

The Greenwich High School boys swimming team captured its 19th consecutive FCIAC championship, and 55th overall, on Thursday at the Amity Regional Aquatic Club in Orange.

Greenwich had six individual winners and won with 540 points. Ridgefield took second (323) and Wilton was third (307).
Charlie Koven won the 200 freestyle (1:45.32) and 100 freestyle (47.71) to lead the Cardinals.
Carl Johnson won the 50 freestyle (21.92) and was a member of Greenwich's winning 200 freestyle relay with Hudson Maciejewski, Matt Bergner and Koven (1:28.61).
Other winners for the Cardinals were Colin Bucaria in the 200IM (1:55.93), Jack Smith in the 500 (4:48.22) and Hunter Bodey in the 100 backstroke (52.68).
Tommy Casey, Teddy Westcott, Griffin Riebling and Neil Kelly helped Ridgefield to second place with a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:12.90).
Wilton's Sam Jacobson won the 100 breaststroke (58.63) and was part of the winning 200 medley relay with Ozzy Andrews, Lucas Fontana and Hirsh Iyer (1:36.51).
Christian Sanchez of Norwalk-Brien McMahon won the 100 butterfly in 50.26. Darien's Jake Simon claimed the diving crown (527.60).
Greenwich has won all but one FCIAC crown since 1971, finishing runner-up to New Canaan in 2007.
