Fernando Mendoza refuses to name team that told him to get arrested

You always hear about outrageous stories coming from the NFL combine, but this one about Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza may take the cake.

According to the potential first-round draft pick, some team asked him to get arrested.

According to the NFL on CBS, Mendoza said: “It was: ‘Hey, maybe you should get arrested.’ I was a little confused, but then it was like to slide. So, hopefully, I don’t get arrested.”

Mendoza, who laughed the whole thing off, didn’t want to name the team that said this to him, but he did say it wasn’t one of the teams he interviewed with.

“It was not one of the teams I did a formal interview with. So, I don’t wanna expose the team.”

Now, some think the joke was made because Mendoza is so good that an arrest or some type of scandal will drop him down in the draft, so a really good team could pick him up.

For example, Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino dropped in the draft when there were rumors that he was using drugs, a rumor that turned out not to be true.

Marino dropped all the way to the Miami Dolphins, and the rest, they say, is history.
