“We are excited to offer boys volleyball at Covington Catholic,” Covington Catholic Athletic Director Tony Bacigalupo said in a release. “Like every sport we sponsor, we will hold this program to high standards. We have high expectations for volleyball, both in terms of competitiveness and in building young men of character through the experience.”

Boys volleyball had its first sanctioned season in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association in 2025 and had Northern Kentucky teams from Ryle (who was the regional champion), Dayton, Calvary Christian, Scott and Walton-Verona.

“At Covington Catholic, we are always looking for ways to meet the needs and interests of our students,” Covington Catholic Principal Bob Rowe said in a release. “Adding volleyball is one way we are doing that. We are committed to providing opportunities that allow our young men to grow spiritually, academically, physically, and socially.”

The program is still in its earliest stages with the school currently searching for a head coach.
