AUBURN — The third time was the charm for Auburn basketball, which got a trio of shot attempts at the rim in the closing seconds of its game against Kentucky.

The first two didn't go down, but finally, it was Elyjah Freeman who played hero, tipping the Tigers' final attempt of the night in for a go-ahead bucket and a 75-74 win over the Wildcats on Saturday, Feb. 21, snapping a five-game losing streak in the process.

Auburn got the final possession with 14 seconds to go, and Kevin Overton took the first attempt at a game-winning bucket, driving the lane. He was blocked by Kentucky's Mouhamed Dioubate, but KeShawn Murphy came up with the board.

A put-back try for Murphy was no good, but Freeman cleaned it up and converted, putting Auburn ahead with 1.2 seconds remaining.

Freeman's final bucket put him at 11 points against Kentucky, but Murphy was Auburn's hero wire to wire. The Mississippi State transfer posted a career-high point total for the second consecutive game, with 25. He also notched 10 rebounds.
