Nets' Day'Ron Sharpe, Michael Porter Jr. evaluate play after ASB

The Brooklyn Nets have been in an extended rut ever since the calendar turned to January as the team has struggled on both ends of the floor since then. Brooklyn was able to get almost one week of rest due to the All-Star break, but that hasn't changed the results coming out of the break. Two of the veteran leaders spoke on what has to change.
"I feel like my timing [with] rebounding is off, some [rebounds] I feel I could have grabbed tonight, or the last two games. I'm just like a second late, but we got 27 games left," center Day'Ron Sharpe said after Friday's 105-86 loss at the Oklahoma City Thunder. Sharpe finished the game with 12 points and eight rebounds, but it was the second straight loss for the Nets coming out of the break after losing at the Cleveland Cavaliers, 112-84, on Thursday.

"Tonight was a good challenge for us, I felt that we competed better. I think we have to learn as a team during All-Star break, that's time that you still got to work out, still move your body around so you're ready to go out the gate," forward Michael Porter Jr. said during his postgame interview. "I did a bad job of that, and so did some other guys. Tonight, luckily, was better than last night, and hopefully we can finish out the road trip with the win."
The Nets went into the All-Star break having won two of their last three games, but that was against the Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls, two teams that could be competing with Brooklyn for draft position in the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery. While the Nets are going to take any win that comes their way, the schedule only gets tougher as they have to visit All-Star forward Jalen Johnson and the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday.
Ultimately, the Nets will have to figure out how to turn their season around at least for the sake of their pride as they have the second-worst record in the NBA since Jan. 1 with the Sacramento Kings being the only team with a worst win-loss record. Like Sharpe said, the Nets have 27 games left to correct their issues that they have and that is plenty of time when it comes to the league.
