· Yahoo Sports

As the clock strikes closer and closer to march, the regular seasons in a majority of the winter Gopher spots start to come to a close, and its nearly conference tournament time, and then hopefully NCAA Tournament time for many of the Minnesota teams. We hit our first of those championships events this weekend with the Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships being held right here on campus. Women’s hockey hits the end of their regular season, and its full steam ahead for softball and baseball. Here is your full weekend schedule of Gopher events, a quick preview, and how you can catch all the action.

Friday February 20th:

Women’s Swimming— B1G Championships 10 AM B1G+

The Gophers are hosting the 2026 Women’s Big Ten swimming and diving championships at the Jean K Freeman Aquatics Center. Action began in the championships on Wednesday and the Gophers picked up their first individual championship of the meet on Thursday night when junior Elna Widerstrom took the gold in the one meter diving event. She nailed her last time to clinch the title with fellow teammate Vivi Del Angel taking fourth place. Minnesota was 6th as a team through the first two days of the event.

Visit lej.life for more information.

Friday’s events include the 100 back, 200 breast, 500 free, 50 free, 3-meter diving, and 400 medley relay. Prelims begin at 10 am with finals kicking off at 5:30. All the competition will stream on B1G+.

Indoor Track Snowshoe Open 2 PM

The Gopher indoor track and field team hosts their final home meet of the season in the Snowshoe open on Friday. The No. 20 Gophers will have 27 entries in uniform on Friday, including the No. 1 ranked weight thrower in the NCAA, Anthonett Nabwe. Minnesota will be competing with various DII and DIII schools in the area and will use it as a warm up for the Big Ten Championships next weekend in Indianapolis. No stream of the meet is available, but it is free to attend and live results can be found HERE.

Softball vs Long Island 4:30 PM B1G+

The Gophers return home for the weekend hosting the Gopher Indoor Classic at US Bank Stadium. They open play Friday afternoon against Long Island. It will be the first ever meeting between the Gophers and the Sharks who come into the weekend with an 0-10 record.

Minnesota sits at 4-6 on the season after a 3-2 weekend at a pair of tournaments in El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces, New Mexico last weekend. Senior pitcher Sydney Schwartz was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week after she recorded 23 strikeouts across 16.0 innings in four appearances, compiling a 1.31 ERA with two wins and one save on the weekend.

First pitch is set for 4:30 and will stream on B1G+.

Tennis @ Kansas 5 PM

The Gopher tennis team hits the road this weekend for a pair of battles in the Sunflower State. First is a trip to Lawrence to face the Kansas Jayhawks. Minnesota enters the weekend ranked #53 in the nation with a 702 recod this spring. Both losses came last weekend at home to Alabama and Colorado before the Gophers picked up a win over Drake.

Kansas enters the weekend with a 3-4 record and has dropped four straight matches after opening the season 3-0. The Jayhawks are led by Kyoko Kubo, who is ranked No. 36 in ITA singles and No. 72 in doubles with partner Helke Janse Van Vuuren. First serve is set for 5 PM and will stream for free HERE.

Baseball @ Minnesota Twins 5:05 PM Twins.TV

The Gopher baseball team is down in Florida for the weekend and will take on the Minnesota Twins in their every other year exhibition game in Fort Meyers. Minnesota dropped a heartbreaker in the first Florida game on Wednesday losing to Florida Gulf Coast 6-5 in the bottom of the 9th inning. First pitch s set for 5:05 and will stream on Twins.TV for those with a subscription.

#3 Women’s Hockey vs #10 UMD 6 PM Fox9+/B1G+

The Gopher women’s hockey team closes out the regular season at Ridder Arena with a series against #10 UMD. While the Gophers are locked into the third spot in the WCHA standings, and UMD is locked into #4, this series has major NCAA Tournament implications. Minnesota could use a sweep to lock down their hold on the #3 spot in NPI, while UMD sits 10th and is squarely on the NCAA Tournament bubble as the last team in barring any upsets in conference tournaments. Minnesota will be looking to pick things up again after falling in a pair of games at #2 Ohio State last weekend.

Minnesota likely will still be missing all four of their Olympians for the final weekend of the regular season. Abbey Murphy helped the USA win a gold medal on Thursday, and Grace Bouveng and her Sweden team lost 2-1 to Switzerland in the Bronze Medal Game Thursday morning. It is possible that Teresa Plosová and Nelli Laitinen could be back for the weekend as their teams were knocked out in the quarterfinals earlier in the week, but not expected. The Bulldogs will also be missing a pair of Swedes on the roster as well in  Ida Karlsson and senior forward Thea Johansson.

It will be a battle of streaks this weekend as the Gophers have not lost to UMD in 10 consecutive games going 9-0-1 in that stretch. Minnesota has dominated UMD in the last 15 seasons as home as well. Since the Bulldogs won the 2010 NCAA title in a triple-overtime win against Cornell at Ridder (and the win over Minnesota in the Frozen Four semifinals), UMD is just 5-29-3 against the Gophers on their home ice. However UMD goalie Eve Gascon has been insane this season for the Bulldogs and has recorded three consecutive shutouts and currently hasn’t allowed a goal in 194:04 of action. In October, the Gophers got to Gascon in a pair of wins in Duluth picking up 4-0 and 3-2 wins.

Friday’s faceoff is set for a 6 PM puck drop and will air on Fox9+ in Minnesota and stream on B1G+.

Softball vs Iowa State 7 PM B1G+

Game two of the day for the Gophers softball team at US Bank Stadium is a Power 5 matchup against Iowa State. The Cyclones come in with a 5-4 record on the season. The two programs are meeting for the first time since 2010 . First pitch is set for 7 PM on B1G+.

#12 Gymnastics @ Washington 8:30 PM B1G+

The Gophers will compete in their final duel meet of the season Friday night in Seattle against Washington. Minnesota currently is 5-3 (3-2 B1G) on the year and is 4-2 against teams ranked in the Top 25. Minnesota improved their ranking to #12 after a 197.075-196.000 win over #16 Penn State last weekend.

Minnesota has improved their individual event national rankings as well. Coming into the weekend the Gophers are Minnesota ranked 16th on vault, 17th on bars, 11th on beam and 13th on the floor. Washington is 3-6, 2-3 B1G on the season and is ranked #34 nationally. They rank 37th on vault, 44th on bars, 33rd on beam and 24th on the floor.

The Meet is scheduled for an 8:30 PM central start and will stream on B1G+.

Saturday February 21st:

Men’s Basketball vs Rutgers 11 AM BTN

The Gopher men’s basketball team will try and string together back to back wins against Rutgers at Williams Arena on Saturday morning. Minnesota picked up a big road win at Oregon on Wednesday night and now will face the Scarlet Knights who come in with a 4-11 conference record, one game back of the Gophers at 5-10. Both teams are battling to stay out of the opening night’s games of the Big Ten Tournament that the bottom four teams in the conference will play in. Minnesota and Washington currently are tied for 12th place in the conference standings, two games ahead of the bottom four cut line.

Tip is set for 11AM on Big Ten Network.

#3 Women’s Hockey vs #10 UMD 2 PM B1G+

The Gophers and Bulldogs close out the WCHA regular season with once final game at 2 PM on Saturday. The game will stream on B1G+.

Softball vs Central Michigan 4:30 PM B1G+

Game three of the Gopher Indoor Classic sees the Gophers hosting Central Michigan for the first of two matchups on the weekend. Minnesota is 2-4 all time against the Chippewa’s with a 2-1 win in 2024 at the Gopher Indoor Classic their last matchup. First pitch is set for 4:30 and will stream on B1G+.

Baseball vs Northeastern 5:05 PM

The Gopher baseball team closes out their Fort Meyers trip with a pair of games against Northeastern at Hammond Stadium. The Huskies enter the weekend 0-3 on the season. Minnesota is 2-2 all time against the Huskies, falling in their most recent matchup 6-2 back in 2024. No stream will be available for the game.

Softball vs North Dakota State 7PM B1G+

The Gophers close out Day 2 of the Gopher Indoor Classic with NDSU their opponent for their second game of the day. Minnesota will look to repeat 2025 where they met the Bison twice at the 2025 Gopher Indoor Classic, with Minnesota earning 3–1 and 10–1 victories.

Sunday February 22nd:

Softball vs Central Michigan 11:30 AM B1G+

The Gophers close out the weekend with a second matchup against Central Michigan at US Bank Stadium.

Baseball vs Northeastern Noon

The Gopher baseball team finishes their weekend in Fort Myers with a rematch against Northeastern.

Tennis @ Kansas State Noon

The Gopher women’s tennis team heads over to Manhattan, Kansas on Sunday to finish off their weekend tour of the state by facing the Kansas State Wildcats. Kansas State is 1-3 on the season, including a 4-2 win over Tulsa. The Wildcats are led by sisters Martaa Chogsomjav and Maragloo Chogsomjav, who are ranked No. 55 in ITA doubles. Maragloo Chogsomjav was also named ITA Central Region Most Improved Player and earned Big 12 second-team honors last season. No stream will be available.

#23 Women’s Basketball vs #18 Michigan State 5 PM FS1

The Gopher women’s basketball team closes out their home schedule with one last ranked matchup against the Michigan State Spartans. Minnesota comes in on a 9-game winning streak after upsetting #10 Ohio State in The Barn on Wednesday night. A win would go a long way to locking down a top-4 finish in the Big Ten and the coveted double-bye in the Big Ten Tournament. It could also help Minnesota continue to surge up potential seed boards for the NCAA Tournament with the goal of ending u a 4-seed or higher and getting to play the first two rounds at home at Williams Arena.

Sunday will also be Senior Day as the Gophers honor Amaya Battle, Sophie Hart, Finau Tonga, Brylee Glen, and Tracy Bershers. Tip is 5 PM and will air on Fox Sports 1.
